With the advent and expansion of glass-ceramic building materials, glass-ceramic composite plates have emerged. It is a planar composite of glass-ceramics and ceramic sheets, showing a multifaceted combination of advantages.
First of all, the glass-ceramic composite plate absorbs the advantages of high mechanical strength, toughness, good impact resistance and high chemical resistance. Therefore, the mechanical properties of the composite sheet are superior to those of the pure glass-ceramic sheet, and the comprehensive acid-resistant alkali-resistant and chemical-resistant washing liquid is stronger than the pure glass-ceramic sheet, which undoubtedly improves the performance of the glass-ceramic. At the same time, it also offers the possibility to reduce the weight of the board and widen the application of high-rise buildings.
Secondly, the production of pure glass-ceramic plates, especially those produced by sintering, is mostly polished by shuttle kiln firing and manually operated polishing machines. Therefore, these productions are mostly intermittent. If the roller kiln is used for firing, the cross section will be increased. The roller bar must be made of high-grade refractory material with high load-softening point. It is also inseparable from high-grade refractory material. The production of ceramic plates is carried out using a mature, highly mechanized, automated continuous production line. The glass-ceramic composite plate is formed by spreading the glass-ceramic granules on the surface of the sintered ceramic plate (the plate also functions as a refractory pad) and firing in a common ceramic roller kiln. It then completes the polishing process on a continuous polishing line. Undoubtedly, this composite plate enables the production of glass ceramics to be continuous, mechanized and automated, resulting in a significant increase in the output of glass-ceramics; at the same time, energy consumption will be greatly reduced. This is in line with the requirements for energy saving and consumption reduction in the building materials industry.
